Kara
I wake up, my body molded around Miles’s big form. Under the sleeping bag, I’m naked from the waist down, my skin sticky with his cum. My hair is probably a mess, and since I left my fake eyelashes at home, I know my face is not even close to Instagram-worthy.
I can’t remember the last morning I didn’t wake up and run, first thing, to the bathroom to look in the mirror and put on my face.
If my fans could see me now, they’d have a field day.
But I don’t care.
I don’t care about conforming to their impossible standards of perfection. No one’s that perfect.
I’m not that perfect. I feel like I want to shout it from the rooftops. Kara Thomas has size nine and half feet and isn’t fucking perfect after all!
Instead, I take in huge breaths of cold air, not feeling the chill at all. I even feel a hint of pride knowing I made it through the night without complaint, and that I was less of a pain in the ass than Amanda’s been known to be.
As crazy as it all is, as different as it is from my regular life, I almost feel like I belong here. Like I can be totally content here.
I look over at Miles. He’s lying on his back, asleep. Now there is a man who looks Instagram-worthy, even while asleep, the bastard. He doesn’t even fucking have to try.
I’d almost hate him for it, if I didn’t want to do him again so badly.
It’s not a good way to feel. It’s like I’m losing control. Like soon, I’m going to need him.
And I know what happens whenever I need a guy too much.
Poof.
But maybe Miles is different. He’s different from every man I’ve ever been with, that’s for sure.
When I think about it, I start to tremble.
Instead, I reach into my bag and pull out my glasses and a little project I’ve been working on. I usually keep it in the back of my night table drawer, so no one else knows it’s there. But the truth is, nothing helps calm me down and take my mind off things better than my knitting.
I put the glasses on and get to work, lying on my stomach. When I’ve completed a row, Miles starts to move. I roll over and look into Miles’s eyes. He’s just waking up, all bleary and gorgeous.
I kiss his beard. “Good morning,” I say, before realizing I still have my glasses on. I start to pull them off, but he catches me. He does a double take and holds my hand up near my eyes before I can remove them.
“Morning,” he says, a smile spreading over his face. “Well, don’t you look sexy.”
“Don’t make fun of me.”
“I’m doing no such thing. Goddamn.” He’s really looking at me now, like he’s never seen me before. “Now that’s something Instagram’s never seen.”
I finally manage to pull them off. “Thank god. I’d probably break their screens.”
“Are you kidding me? You look fucking fabulous like that.
